Despite losing all of the last five games and totally having won only two games for the whole season, the Detroit Lions actually sold out the tickets for their season finale! But I guess most of the audience will be wearing Chicago Bears jerseys as fans for a team who sent the Minnesota Vikings their third loss of the season.
The Lions sold out three of its first seven games at Ford Field this season, but seemingly all sellouts were not good signs. The Lions are 0-3 in the sellouts—losing to the Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. Or perhaps, the Lions were able to sell out the game simply because the game was against the team they were anyhow unable to win over.
The Lions will have Daunte Culpepper to start at quarterback against the Bears. Previous starter Drew Stanton has lost the advantage of keeping the starting job after led the team to a 6-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday.

Cutler was fined $20,000 for abusive conduct to game official
It was frustrating enough for the Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to throw another five interceptions in Thursday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. And it was even more frustrating as he had to pay $20,000 the next day for his conduct in last Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.
The NFL said Friday that the quarterback had abusive conduct toward a game official during the 41-21 home loss to the Cardinals. It was in the third quarter when Cutler made an incomplete pass to tight end Greg Olsen on a fourth-down play. While Cutler thought there should have been an interference penalty, the official ruled that the quarterback should be given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Along with him was defensive lineman Tommie Harris, who had to pay $7,500 to the league because he punched counterpart in Cardinals jersey Deuce Lutui on the fourth play from scrimmage.

Bears LB Tinoisamoa will miss the rest of season with knee injury
The Chicago Bears strongside linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa will miss the rest of the season as he is going to have a season-ending surgery to repair ligament damage in his right knee.
According to Bears Coach Lovie Smith, Tinoisamoa was “just disappointed” that he never got to show what he could do while wearing Bears jersey after signing a one-year deal in May. The injury occurred during last week’s 21-14 loss to the Falcons at Atlanta and it was his second injury this season. He tore the posterior cruciate ligament in the season opener at Green Bay.
Losing Tinoisamoa is just another hit to the Bears linebacker after they lost six-time Pro Bowl pick Brian Urlacher for the season after Urlacher dislocated his right wrist in the game against the Packers. Hunter Hillenmeyer injured ribs at Seattle on Sept. 27 and took part in his first practice Wednesday.

Bye week could give Bears injured players time to recover
After winning three straight games, the Chicago Bears welcomed their bye week. Without game to play this week, the team will have time to take a good care of the injured players.
During last Sunday’s 48-24 win over the Detroit Lions, another player was added to the wounded list- wide receiver Devin Hester had an injury to the shoulder area during the game and his status became uncertain for the game against the Atlanta Falcons in two weeks. Other injured players to look other include back up running back Adrian Peterson, receiver Johnny Knox and defensive lineman Israel Idonije.
The list of banged-up Bears is long, as defensive tackle Tommie Harris said. “A lot of things didn’t happen the way we wanted them to happen, with all the injuries.” And Coach Lovie Smith said the team has not yet ruled out anybody and he hoped to see all of the guys wearing chicago bears jersey by the time of game.

Bears Urlacher and Cutler exchanged jerseys at close-of-camp
On Chicago Bears Thursday close-of-camp rite, star linebacker Brian Urlacher and new quarterback Jay Cutler exchanged their bears jerseys, shooting down reports of a rift between the No.54 and No. 6.
In the rite, players on the rosters all swapped jerseys as a mark of the final day of training camp, which was held at Olivet Nazarene University. An interesting interaction although at first it took some time for everyone to get used to seeing No. 54 taking snaps from center.
“I had a little bit of trouble at first seeing Urlacher in Cutler’s,” coach Lovie Smith said. “They kind of look alike, both of them big stature. But you know, that’s the tradition with our players right now. There’s nothing like the last day of training camp for the players and of course the coaches.”
Swapping jerseys among players may also mark better understanding with each other, which was also a main factor in improved teamwork. Especially for Cutler and his new offensive teammates, better understanding will be important in leading the game to better results in Saturday’s game against the New York Giants than in the preseason opener against Buffalo.

Bears reacted mildly to candid remarks of QB Cutler
Quarterback Jay Cutler surely did not learn much from the troubles he caused in the Broncos by candid remarks. After the Bears lost to the Buffalo Bills by 27-20, Cutler criticized wide receiver Devin Hester for failure to break up an interception on a pass in Saturday night's preseason opener. However, reactions for both Hester and the team were mild.
“It wasn’t criticism or anything like that,” Hester said. “He was saying, you are not a 6-8 receiver. You can’t go up and get everything. But we know you are the type of receiver if we throw it out there, you will go get it.”
Offensive coordinator Ron Turner said that he would talk to Cutler about being critical of teammates, nevertheless, he still likes Cutler's competitive attitude and considers that is why Cutler becomes an elite quarterback no matter in broncos jersey or in bears jersey.
As for coach Lovie Smith, he was trying to call the entire matter forgotten. He told media to turn attention back on the team's practice field and get ready to see them become better.
